BMELord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth is a real-time strategy developed by EA Los Angeles. The game is based on Peter Jackson’s adaptation of Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings.

The game allows the player to control units from 4 major races in Middle Earth: Gondor, Rohan, Mordor, and Isengard.

Just like any other RTS games, in order for the player to create more units and buildings (aside from the ones given at the start of the game) the player will need to acquire resources by creating certain buildings like farms on fixed set points called plots.

Most units in the game like archers and soldiers are controlled in battalions. Each battalion may contain either 10 or 5 units. Powerful units, however, like Ents and Trolls, are controlled individually.

Like Command and Conquer: Generals, LotR: Battle for Middle Earth allows the player to earn special powers as he or she destroys more opponents. These special powers can range from the ability to heal units up to summoning Elves all the way to summoning the army of the dead (good side) or Balrog (evil side).
